ChatGPT could help doctors treat depression

A study suggests that AI chatbot ChatGPT may outperform human doctors in adhering to depression treatment standards, potentially revolutionizing primary care decision-making.

Unlike human doctors, ChatGPT avoids gender and social class biases. Two versions of ChatGPT were tested against French primary care doctors, with impressive results.

For mild depression, ChatGPT-3.5 recommended psychotherapy in 95% of cases and ChatGPT-4 in 97.5%, whereas human doctors chose this option only 4.3% of the time.

In severe cases, the two ChatGPT versions recommended psychotherapy plus prescribed drugs in 72% and 100% of cases, respectively, compared to 44.5% of doctors. ChatGPT also demonstrated precision in complying with clinical guidelines.

Although promising, further research is needed to address potential risks and ethical concerns associated with AI chatbots like ChatGPT.

CEO of ChatGPT maker doesn’t want you to be ‘friends’ with AI

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman expressed concerns about the idea of people forming close friendships with AI.

During an event, Altman stated that he has reservations about a future where people are very close to AI friends rather than human friends. However, he acknowledged that others might have a different perspective and that while personalization and personality in AI are valuable, it's crucial to distinguish between interactions with AI and humans.

Altman emphasized that OpenAI intentionally named its AI system "ChatGPT" rather than giving it a human name to remind users that they are not conversing with a real person.

Altman's comments come as various AI companies develop chatbots with human-like personalities and friendliness. Some experts share concerns about users forming strong emotional bonds with chatbots, potentially leading to exploitation and ethical challenges related to these human-AI relationships.

OpenAI tool can detect AI images with 99% accuracy

ChatGPT maker OpenAI is developing a tool that's "99% reliable" at detecting AI-generated images.

The firm sees addressing the need for accurate identification of AI-produced content amid growing concerns about its misuse.

OpenAI also hinted at the potential release of "GPT-5" and acknowledged the challenge of AI models making things up, suggesting improvements are underway.

Additionally, they didn't rule out the possibility of designing their own computer chips for AI models, despite using existing ones like Nvidia Corp's.
