OpenAI's ChatGPT is getting even chattier! It can now see, hear, and speak. Users can engage in voice conversations and share images in real-time with ChatGPT.

This move follows a trend in the competitive world of generative AI, with companies like Meta, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and even Apple venturing into voice and multimodal capabilities. ChatGPT's voice features will be available on iOS and Android, offering conversational and creative responses akin to its text-based capabilities.

For instance, it can generate bedtime stories from voice prompts, making it a digital storyteller for tired parents. Multimodal capabilities allow users to ask ChatGPT about images, like identifying objects or planning meals based on a fridge snapshot.

OpenAI claims to have implemented safeguards to protect privacy and ensure responsible use, but the true test will come when these capabilities are in the hands of users. Voice chat and image features will be rolled out to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users first, with broader availability coming soon.

OpenAI is reportedly in discussions with investors about allowing employees to sell their shares in the company, a move that could boost the company's valuation to around $90 billion.

This strategy would avoid the dilution of equity that would occur if new shares were issued. Earlier this year, OpenAI sold $300 million worth of shares at a $30 billion valuation, making this potential deal look very promising.

Microsoft, which owns a 49 percent stake in OpenAI, is poised to benefit significantly from this transaction.

OpenAI has evolved from a non-profit research lab to a for-profit company, and its portfolio includes groundbreaking AI technologies such as GPT-3 and ChatGPT.

The CIA is set to deploy its own ChatGPT-like AI tool, developed by the CIA's Open Source Enterprise division, to assist in analyzing vast amounts of data for ongoing investigations.

This initiative aims to enhance open-source intelligence analysis and is intended to be adopted by all 18 U.S. intelligence agencies including the FBI and NSA.

The move is part of an effort to compete with China's increasing intelligence capabilities, with China aiming to lead in AI by 2030.

The AI tool will provide the ability to see the original source of information and use chat features for more efficient communication. However, concerns about the technology's security and privacy implications persist.

CIA Head of AI Randy Nixon said it would have ā€˜no limitations other than how much things costā€™.
