In the ongoing battle of AI wit, Sam Altman, the head of OpenAI, took a satirical swipe at Elon Musk's new AI system, Grok.

Musk's Grok was introduced as an irreverent and humorous chat-based AI, positioned as an alternative to ChatGPT and other platforms. Altman, however, didn't hold back in his response. He cheekily commented that Grok "tell[s] jokes like your dad's dad" and uses "cringey boomer humor" while employing an "awkward shock-to-get-laughs sort of way."

Altman showcased OpenAI's latest feature, GPTs, which allows users to create custom versions of their chatbots with specific characteristics. He humorously noted that "GPTs can save a lot of effort." Musk, in his characteristic style, responded by suggesting that "humor is clearly banned at OpenAI."

Musk's Grok has marketed itself as the AI system that will answer questions others might refuse, with a tone leaning towards irreverence. It even has real-time access to Twitter data- which other systems now do not.

Having a tough time getting ChatGPT to give you the right answers? Well, it turns out, you might need to speak to it with a little more emotion. Researchers from Microsoft, William & Mary suggest.

Emotional intelligence in AI, they say, means the ability to adeptly interpret and manage emotion-laden information, then using it to handle various tasks, from problem-solving to behaving like a civilised bot.

Surprisingly, these language models might just have a heart after all. The research showed that when you throw in some emotional language while talking to AI chatbots, you're more likely to get better responses. Emotion-packed prompts made the AI perform 8% better in tasks like "Rephrase the sentence in formal language" and "Find a common characteristic for the given objects."

When humans reviewed the outputs, they found that the emotional prompts led to a 10.9% improvement in knowledge-based queries. So, if you ever wondered how to get the most out of ChatGPT, it seems the secret is to make it feel something.

In the grand scheme of things, this discovery could be a step closer to AI that exhibits complex human capabilities, like common sense and maybe even having a heart.

OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, is pursuing a grand vision - the development of artificial general intelligence (AGI), computer software as intelligent as humans. To achieve this ambitious goal, they plan to secure further financial backing from Microsoft, their biggest investor, who earlier invested $10 billion in OpenAI.

OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, mentioned that while their revenue growth has been good, the company remains unprofitable due to these significant training costs. Nevertheless, the partnership with Microsoft aims to ensure mutual success, with both companies benefiting financially from each other's achievements.

As part of their strategy to develop AGI, OpenAI is working on GPT-5, the next generation of its AI model. It will require more data for training, including both publicly available data sets and proprietary data from companies. However, predicting the exact capabilities of GPT-5 compared to its predecessor, GPT-4, is a challenge.

To train these models, OpenAI relies on Nvidia's advanced H100 chips, which have been in high demand. Although Altman expects a better supply next year, the AI industry is diversifying into developing its own AI chips.

Altman emphasizes that language models (like ChatGPT) are just one piece of the puzzle, and the critical question is how to enable these systems to make fundamental leaps of understanding, similar to inventing calculus instead of just reading math textbooks.

With OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman mocking Elon Musks competitor, Grok AI, which is said to be more ā€˜down with the kidsā€™, one twitter user asked Grok, what itā€™s first ever thought was.

Whilst Sam Altman is developing OpenAI with industry changing Dall-E and now Custom GPTā€™s, Elon is sticking with the ā€˜humorousā€™ approach instead.

We think we will be staying with OpenAI and ChatGPT!

Now itā€™s time to build our very own Custom GPT. What will you be building?
