The use of AI tools, including ChatGPT, among teachers has doubled in the last five months, with around a third of teachers now using AI for various aspects of their work, such as lesson planning and responding to parent emails.
This surge in AI adoption is driven by its ability to reduce workloads and enhance planning.
However, concerns exist about AI's accuracy, particularly in grading. Despite these concerns, there is ongoing interest in exploring AI's potential benefits in education, with a government project examining its use for marking and feedback.

A British judge has openly confessed to enlisting ChatGPT as a co-author in drafting a portion of a legal ruling.
Lord Justice Birss, renowned for his prowess in intellectual property law, described the AI chatbot as "jolly useful" in assisting him with a less familiar area of law.
He candidly recounted how he sought ChatGPT's input, which provided a summarizing paragraph. He humorously mused, "I know what the answer is because I was about to write a paragraph that said that. But it did it for me, and I put it in my judgment. It's there and it's jolly useful."
However, the judge did emphasize the need for circumspection when employing AI, particularly in areas where one's knowledge is limited. He wryly acknowledged AI's tendency to "hallucinate" or fabricate information, citing an amusing incident involving New York lawyers who were fined for a legal brief replete with fictitious case citations generated by ChatGPT.
Lord Justice Birss underscored his personal accountability for the AI-assisted judgment, quipping, "I'm taking full personal responsibility for what I put in my judgment; I am not trying to give the responsibility to somebody else.
