An acquisition of a chip company is also being explored to expedite the process. Regardless, it may take several years, so OpenAI will still rely on commercial chip providers like Nvidia and AMD for the time being.

Surpassing Netflix in web traffic ChatGPT is on the rise

ChatGPT, OpenAI's AI language model, has seen remarkable success with an estimated 1.51 billion monthly website visits between June and August 2023, placing it ninth among major websites. It even outperformed Netflix, which had 1.49 billion visits during the same period.

ChatGPT to be allowed in Australian schools from 2024

Australian education ministers have endorsed a national framework allowing the use of artificial intelligence, including ChatGPT, in all schools from 2024.

The framework, developed by the national AI taskforce, addresses concerns about privacy and plagiarism that have arisen since ChatGPT's launch last year. The move aims to balance the benefits of AI in education while avoiding misuse.

A $1 million investment in Education Services Australia will establish "product expectations" for generative AI tech. The Department of Education highlighted the importance of upskilling teachers to implement AI effectively in classrooms.

Addressing an inquiry into the utilization of generative artificial intelligence just last month, Julie Birmingham, a spokesperson from the Department of Education, emphasized that despite the rapid pace of technological advancement, Australia had taken a pioneering role in its approach.
