ChatGPT's mobile app continues to perform well with record-breaking numbers in September, including 15.6 million installs and nearly $4.6 million in gross revenue worldwide.

Interestingly, ChatGPT is not the highest-earning AI app, as a competitor named Ask AI generates more revenue, in part due to heavy advertising spending. While Ask AI's revenue dropped slightly in September to $5.51 million, it still outperformed ChatGPT.

ChatGPT continues to gain new users, with a total of 52.2 million estimated lifetime installs. Google Play is driving the majority of downloads, accounting for 9 million in September, while the App Store is the primary source of revenue, contributing $3 million in in-app purchases.

The United States represents the largest market for ChatGPT, contributing 60% of its revenues.

Generative AI tools like ChatGPT are becoming valuable aids for researchers, helping write papers, peer-review reports, and grant applications. They can improve equity in science, particularly for non-native English speakers, but concerns about accuracy and misuse loom.

Publishers are wary of AI-generated text leading to poor-quality manuscripts and possible fakes. Detecting AI-generated text reliably remains challenging, leading to calls for transparency and watermarking.

Some journals have banned the use of generative AI, while others insist on disclosure. The tools also impact peer review, raising concerns about confidentiality and review quality.

Despite concerns, generative AI tools could revolutionize scientific communication and publishing, offering new interactive publication formats and transforming the way research is disseminated.

With over 180 million users and a robust premium offering, ChatGPT is becoming essential for entrepreneurs. When used effectively, it can write, inspire groundbreaking business ideas, enhance your personal brand, and aid in critical business decisions.

However, success depends on your skills. Clear, intentional prompts that align with your goals are crucial. Avoid average prompts, which yield average results. Effective communication with the model is key. Learn from the most common ChatGPT prompting mistakes to maximize your success.

1. Lack of Clarity: Using vague or ambiguous prompts can lead to generalized or off-target responses. Avoid colloquialisms and unclear concepts. Make the parameters for the model's predictions clear and use universal language.

2. Complex Multi-Part Questions: Asking multiple questions in a single prompt can result in uneven answers and confusion. Prioritize one request at a time and provide clear instructions. Break down questions, add context, and rephrase for clarity.

3. Insufficient Context: Provide ChatGPT with enough context to generate accurate responses. Don't assume it remembers previous interactions or possesses specific knowledge. Reference prior questions, remind it of key considerations, and explain the purpose of your request.

4. Unrealistic Expectations: Don't expect perfect answers every time; ChatGPT has limitations. Verify responses, especially in specialized areas like medicine or law. Set realistic expectations and refine your prompting technique over time. Remember, ChatGPT is not human and may not fully understand your needs.
