OpenAI is hitting the pause button on new ChatGPT Plus subscriptions due to an overwhelming surge in demand following their DevDay developer conference.

This decision is aimed at ensuring existing users enjoy a high-quality experience. The ChatGPT Plus package, which includes exciting features like the new GPT-4 Turbo and custom GPTs, will be temporarily halted. Don't fret if you're eager to get on board; you can join a waitlist to receive notifications when ChatGPT Plus subscriptions become available again.

OpenAI introduced GPTs, which have found various applications, including graphic design with Canva, SEO content assessment, and analytics data chat for platforms like Google Ads, GA4, and Facebook. Google search has already indexed over 300 public GPTs.

This move comes after a week where OpenAI's services faced challenges, including outages linked to high demand and DDoS attacks. While this pause is expected to improve the experience for existing users and developers, it may temporarily reduce access for new GPT users, as these features are currently exclusive to Plus subscribers.

Anyone that uses ChatGPT often will have noticed that the system is already starting to feel slower… lets hope capacity can be extended sooner rather than later! 🐌

AI chatbots like ChatGPT have stirred up the education sector. Initially seen as a challenge to traditional evaluation methods, educators are now exploring their potential benefits. These chatbots offer personalized tutoring and simplify access to complex information.

However, concerns about accuracy and bias remain. Educators are advised to educate students about chatbots' strengths and weaknesses and support efforts to improve them for educational use.

Several institutions are already integrating chatbots into their teaching methods, aiming to harness their strengths while minimizing errors. But there's a need to address biases in chatbot responses.

In summary, chatbots are transforming education, but vigilance and transparency are essential to ensure they enhance the learning experience.

Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia. Credit: Mint

In a delightfully ironic twist befitting our times, the grand poobah of Wikipedia, Jimmy "I know a thing or two about unreliable information" Wales, has graced the tech minions gathered at a Web Summit in Lisbon with his sage wisdom on AI. In what could only be described as a tragicomedy, discussions were swamped by our latest silicon-brained overlords.

Amidst the buzz, Jimmy took to the stage, presumably after updating his own Wikipedia page, to impart his thoughts on the AI toy de jour, ChatGPT. With the dramatic flair of a seasoned internet oracle, he poetically dismissed it as a whimsical trinket that, upon serious reflection, reveals itself to be the digital equivalent of a Shakespearean fool - seemingly profound, yet laughably inept, as reported by the ever-watchful Trending Topics.

In a performance that could give the Globe Theatre a run for its money, he then took a prophetic jab at OpenAI's cozying up with Microsoft, hinting at a forthcoming tech apocalypse for poor old Google.

Wales, the veritable high priest of open-source and the gatekeeper of veracity, all but sang a dirge for AI, painting it as the harbinger of misinformation. And all this while sponsored content peddling bowel-emptying tips and life insurance deals danced around his sermon like jesters at a medieval court.
